Cheap car insurance company finds Dundee best city for motoring

A cheap car insurance company has revealed that Dundee is the best place in the UK for motorists, whilst Cardiff is the worst.

The research, carried out by Virgin Money Car Insurance, took into account a huge range of factors including petrol prices, the presence of speed cameras on main roads, the level of car crime, the amount of congestion, and the cost and availability of parking.

Dundee was found to have very reasonable petrol prices and only a minor congestion problem, whilst Cardiff suffers from a lack of parking and has a high rate of car crime.

Other cities to score well in the cheap car insurance firm's research include Aberdeen, Telford, Dudley and Norwich, whilst Nottingham, London, Leeds and Slough languish at the bottom of the table near Cardiff.

A spokesperson for Virgin Money Car Insurance said: "With more than 23 million UK drivers, it's clear that we are in love with the car and spend a considerable amount of time in them.

"Unfortunately, time spent driving is not always the most pleasant and our research shows the driving experience varies widely across the country.

"Every motorist will have their own definition of driving hell, whether it's hunting for a parking space, being stuck in a traffic jam or being caught by a speed camera for a momentary lapse," added the motor insurance company's representative.
