Over 65s miss out on cheap car insurance deals online
Cheap car insurance deals are out there, but new research suggests that drivers of more senior years are missing out on the bargains because of a reluctance to hunt out the cheap online car insurance quotes.
According to Sainsbury's Car Insurance, drivers over the age of 65 are not using comparison websites to get the best deals and, as a group, have therefore seen the highest rise in premiums.
The average rise in the last twelve months for drivers over 65 has been 9.99 per cent; taking the average car insurance premium from £335 to £370.
The average premium for all age groups between July 2007 and June 2008, has risen by 5.8 per cent, sending car insurance prices though the £500 barrier to £514.36.
Joanne Mallon, of Sainsbury's Car Insurance, said: 'Given car insurance premiums are rising and the cost of driving is at its highest for a number of years, it is important motorists shop around for competitive insurance.'
A duck2water spokesperson added, "Online motor insurance sites are where the cheap car insurance premiums are to be found. We think older drivers will find it easier than they thought to get an online car insurance deal and it will save them money."
