Cheap car insurance difficult for residents of Bradford
UK motorists looking for cheap car insurance deals are well advised to avoid moving to Bradford as it has been revealed that the city's road users recently suffered an increase of 17.1% in the cost of comprehensive car insurance premiums which is the highest increase in the country.
A car insurance comparison website, along with a professional services company, revealed that statistics show a 4.9% increase in the average price of insurance for 2011. This means that the average cost of comprehensive cover is £844.
The head of the car insurance department commented that UK drivers paid an average of £804 at the end of 2010 which was high enough without this year's increase in price.
He stated, "In 2012 we can expect to see new factors affecting car insurance prices, such as the introduction of EU legislation due at the end of this year, meaning that insurance cannot be priced according to gender."
He also went on to say that new technologies will also affect these prices, with products using black box technology to offer drivers discounts if they prove to be careful behind the wheel.
The East Liberal Democrat for Bradford has been campaigning for affordable car insurance, organising a meeting to look at the issue of the high cost of car insurance.
