Bad news for cheap car insurance customers in EH8

Scottish motorists looking for a cheap car insurance quote would be well advised not to park in the EH8 district, after it was found to be the highest risk postcode in the country.

According to the motor insurance firm Admiral, motorists who live in the EH8 district, which encompasses Holyrood Park, Newington, Mountcastle and Meadowbank, are the most likely to need to claim on their car insurance policy.

A study of 300,000 motor insurance claims revealed that car theft is a major problem in the area, with statistics showing that the incidence of this crime in EH8 is not far behind the worst places in the UK.

A councillor who represents part of the EH8 district commented on the cheap car insurance company's findings, saying: "Although it's not a very welcome statistic it's not something I would get hung up about. I think Edinburgh in general is pretty safe [to park your car]."

However, the good news for Scottish drivers is that the EH8 area was the only area in Scotland to appear in Admiral's top 10 high-risk districts. Indeed, Fraserburgh, Irvine and Ayr were found to be amongst the safest places to leave your car in the whole of the UK.
