Rugby fans told to check cheap car insurance

NFU Mutual is urging fans travelling to watch the Rugby World Cup in France to ensure their cheap car insurance offers adequate cover.

Thousands of rugby followers are expected to drive to watch games in stadiums across France, visiting Nantes, Bordeaux, Paris, Marseille, and culminating in Saint-Denis for the final.

However, NFU Mutual is warning that many of these motorists will take to the road without a cheap car insurance policy which offers comprehensive cover.

A spokesperson for the UK motor insurance company said: "As travel plans are finalised and the excitement builds for fans of all of the home nations, insurance can be the last thing on your mind. However, driving on unfamiliar roads can be a tricky business.

"It is important that you check whether you are covered in the event of an accident or theft."

She went on to point out that NFU Mutual's cheap car insurance policies provide comprehensive cover for driving abroad all year round, and commented: "This offers real peace of mind and means that rugby fans can get back to the important business of cheering their team on."

NFU Mutual also advised motorists to check their car's fluids, bulbs, tyres and windscreen and to ensure that their headlights have been converted to continental driving.
