Cheap car insurance dispute for Good Samaritan

A Swedish taxi driver is struggling to keep his cheap car insurance after acting as a Good Samaritan when he came across a car accident.

Peter Andersson, 45, was driving down a road near Lulea in freezing conditions when he came upon a wrecked car in the road.

He stopped and offered the three occupants of the car shelter until the emergency services arrived on the scene, which the battered and bruised people quickly accepted.

While waiting for the police and ambulance, Mr Andersson decided to have a look at the crashed car.

He said: "I went off to look at the wreck and when the fireman turned up, they pulled out hydraulic metal cutters and sliced the side off the cab.

"They said it meant they could get the people out without them having to bend too much, in case of neck injuries. They didn't realise they only had to open the door."

Unfortunately for the good-hearted Mr Andersson, his cheap car insurance company weren't convinced by his story behind the £30,000 worth of damage to his taxi. He says he is now in the process of trying to persuade the motor insurance firm that the accident was not his fault.
