Cheap car insurance for taxidermists and gravediggers?

Research by a cheap car insurance comparison site has revealed that the most accident-prone motorists are those involved in the caring professions.

Moneysupermarket.com found that three of the top four professions with the worst accident records were lifeguards, doctors and surgeons, with between 12% and 13% of those in these occupations admitting to having caused a car accident.

However, people whose jobs are less life-centred - such as taxidermists and gravediggers - were found to have amongst the lowest car crash rates in the cheap car insurance firm's research.

A spokesperson for moneysupermarket.com said that the motor insurance industry needs to rework the cost of insurance premiums in light of these findings.

He said: "If there's any logic to it, astrologers, watchmakers and chimney sweeps should be paying a lot less than systems analysts, insurance inspectors and statisticians."
