Air con anger could pose cheap car insurance threat

Kwik-Fit has found that many motorists are getting hot under the collar, and possibly risking their cheap car insurance rates, all because of poor air con.

The company, which provides a range of motoring services including vehicle repairs and motor insurance, found that thousands of drivers are driving around with ineffective air conditioning units.

This could lead to something Kwik-Fit terms "Air con anger", which is where motorists lose their temper because of the heat.

The firm found that as many as 70% of drivers could be leaving themselves open to these fits of rage behind the wheel because their air conditioning unit has not been recharged.

A spokesperson for Kwik-Fit said: "Motorists may not realise that air-conditioning units can actually lose up to 30% of their gas every two years, others might well assume that recharging an air-con comes as part of a basic car service."

To combat bursts of air con anger and help motorists to avoid claiming on their cheap car insurance, Kwik-Fit is offering an air con recharge service and guarantees drivers their money back if their car does not cool by at least 10%.
