Cheaper car insurance news

Elderly just as safe drivers as young
While TV commercials are always advertising cheaper car insurance to older drivers, it is a common belief that elderly drivers are more of a risk on the road than younger drivers. However, according to a new report released by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), studies actually show no significant increase in car insurance claims as drivers pass their 60th birthday.
In the UK, 8% of drivers are aged 70 and above but only 4% of all crashes on Britain's motorways are accidents involving older drivers.
Neil Greig, Director of Policy and Research at the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), said the report contradicts the common assumption that older drivers are a danger on the roads.
There are several car insurance companies that offer cover exclusively to over sixties and some even try to entice a wider demographic of customers by offering no upper age limit on the policy holder.
Given their vast driving experience, it makes sense that cheaper car insurance will be found by older rather than younger drivers.
