Welsh road safety campaign and cheapest car insurance

Young drivers who are involved in car crashes are unlikely to receive the cheapest car insurance if they are found liable for the accident.

Furthermore, traffic incidents often cause personal injuries and even fatalities, so they are to be guarded against at all times.

Although drivers themselves should be careful on the roads, councils and government bodies in charge of road maintenance, layout and signage can also help make the highways safer.

In Wales, the Improve Roads Improve Safety group (IRIS) is asking the government to put more of its resources into improving road maintenance to save millions of drivers from injury and possible death.

Two personal injury lawyers based in Cardiff, who specialise in injuries incurred in road accidents, are responsible for IRIS. Through their research they have found that poor road maintenance and sign-posting is a substantial cause of road accidents throughout the UK.

The start of their campaign followed the death of two teenagers on the A465 at Hirwaun, Wales, which occurred when their car aqua-planed on water in the road.

An IRIS member said, "Our team deals with more than 20,000 road accidents each year. You can't be involved day after day in helping that many families try to put their lives back together without becoming involved and trying to do something to prevent such catastrophes occurring."

Their campaign will hopefully help individual motorists find cheapest car insurance further by improving the situation faced by road users and reducing the risk of accidents by examining where road safety problems originate.
