Drivers going without cover options
A recent study has found that the desire of many drivers to find the cheapest car insurance available on the market could be leaving them short in times of need.
For example, it was found that the pressures of comparing the market to find the cheapest car insurance resulted in many drivers buying policies that failed to provide cover for uninsured loss recovery.
Uninsured loss recovery, also called legal expenses insurance, is a type of cover that helps drivers recover expenses following crashes that were caused by other parties. These expenses can cover such things as personal injury, cost of car hire or the cost of telephone calls.
Although 21% of insurers provide uninsured loss recovery as standard in their policies, 28% do not provide any form of legal expenses cover.
An analyst from the company behind the study commented, "It's not unusual to be offered a number of optional extras when you buy your car insurance.
"What is important is that consumers check that they have their required features within their policy as we all have different needs."
It has been noted that not having the right features can sometimes, in the long run, make the cheapest car insurance the most expensive.
