Motorists choose cheap price over other quote factors
More than half of buyers looking for the best car insurance quotes favour cheap cover over any other factor influencing the purchase, according to new research just published.
Of those questioned, only 19 per cent considered level of cover as most important compared to 57 per cent who cited price as the major reason to buy a new motor insurance policy.
Breakdown cover, discount cover rates for partners, courtesy cars and low excesses were other factors some participants believed were crucial for their choice of car insurance.
It was surprising that people were apparently uninterested in protecting their no claims bonus - this option in the survey by fairinvestment.co.uk attracted no votes.
A director at the comparison site advised motorists to compare deals on policy features and cover level, as well as price.
He said: "Motorists should be careful choosing their car insurance by price alone, the cheapest car insurance is not always the best and there are other aspects to be taken into consideration."
Among the audience polled, one respondent said he preferred to choose car insurance quotes from companies that did not have overseas call centres.
