Building a safer future for company drivers
Car safety initiatives are always welcomed in the quest for cheap car insurance. So, when a nationally known firm teams up with the police in the name of car safety it can only be seen in a positive light.
After opening an office in Edinburgh, construction firm Rok have joined with Lothian and Borders Police to carry out a safe driving campaign that will provide training for Rok's 50 or so staff.
Run by the police, the programme is designed for fleet operators of any size to highlight the dangers of daily road driving and to stress that driving as part of one's daily work brings with it greatly increased risks.
The scheme was introduced in 2002 and is voluntary. It is run by the police's road safety unit.
A Rok spokesperson said, "The majority of our staff are out on the roads in their daily working lives and we want to ensure that safety is paramount for them."
A police road safety manager said," Across the UK, one-in-three fatal or serious accidents on the road involves a driver while at work. "We are committed to encouraging and supporting organisations locally that run fleets of vehicles to develop policies and strategies that will encourage safe driving practices."
Safe driving practices can be seen as key in the fight for cheap car insurance.
