Rattles pose risk to cheap car insurance premiums
Rattles could be the cause of many lost cheap car insurance premiums, according to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
RoSPA is warning motorists that they could be putting their own and other motorists lives - and motor insurance - at risk by searching for that annoying squeak or rattle whilst simultaneously trying to control their vehicle.
A spokesperson for RoSPA said: "If they are searching for the source of the sound the driver is not giving the road their full attention and this could lead to any number of potentially fatal accidents.
"All it takes is a moment of distraction and you could seriously injure or kill yourself, another driver or pedestrian."
Research conducted by the manufacturers of RattleBuster, a product designed to help motorists identify where the rattles are coming from in their car, found one person who admitted to having been in an accident while trying to find the cause of an annoying noise.
The study also found that a third of drivers felt they had been distracted by mystery rattles in their car, something which may well have endangered their safety and their cheap car insurance rates.
