Motorists look for ways of saving money
According to moneysupermarket.com a significant proportion of UK motorists are opting to scour the market for really cheap car insurance, and drive fewer miles, in order to offset the rising costs of petrol.
The price comparison website surveyed their visitors to see what impact the increasingly expensive car insurance and rising petrol costs would have on their driving behaviour.
Almost 50% of the respondents said that they were seriously considering investing in a fuel-efficient vehicle, and 10% said that they would hunt for a motor which cost less to insure. Some people were even thinking of utilising buses and trains as a way of reducing their outgoings.
Pete Harrison, a representative of moneysupermarket.com, said, "with prices on the up it is more important than ever drivers ensure they are shopping around for the best deals on insurance - those who do will reap rewards and make their hard-earned cash go further".
He went on to highlight some steps which drivers can take to keep their premiums low. Apparently it is possible to make a decent saving by paying insurance annually, rather than monthly.
Motorists are reminded that by driving sensibly at all times, it should be easy to avoid costly speeding tickets.
It is also worth bearing in mind that road users are likely to struggle to acquire really cheap car insurance if their car has been fitted with modifications, such as an ultra powerful engine or sports exhaust.
