Insurance items left out by many providers
Motorists should have a close look at the details of their cheap car insurance packages in order to find out the kinds of eventualities that they are covered for, according to Moneysupermarket.com.
Upon inspection of a variety of policies, the price comparison website found that there were great variations in the cost and extent of cover offered by different insurers.
While some car insurance providers had opted against including breakdown cover, others were unwilling to pay for legal expenses in the event of accidents.
A spokesperson for Moneysupermarket.com said, "Exclusions are commonplace. Drivers should scour the small print with a fine-toothed comb to ensure they don't get caught out.
"Shop around and take time to research the different options available in order to find the right car insurance policy for you."
In related news, price comparison site Confused.com recently drew attention to the steep rises in the costs of insurance for novice drivers with new vehicles.
It revealed that a recently qualified driver could expect to pay £1,000 more for Ford Ka cover in 2011 than in 2010.
Young drivers who are struggling financially have been reminded that it is still possible to find cheap car insurance policies online. People who are particularly keen on saving money have been encouraged to enroll on a post test driver training course.
