Insurance customers may have to pay more

Motorists will experience difficulty finding cheap car insurance deals over the coming months, as insurers attempt to recoup some of the losses made as a consequence of the unexpectedly high number of claims made last year.

Deloitte, a major financial company, reported that the UK's motor insurers made a combined loss of over £2 billion during 2010. Apparently they had to hand over 120p for every 100p taken in premiums.

The AA has said that those people who are yet to purchase car insurance this year will be required to pay 30% more than they did at the turn of the new decade. However, it will still be possible to pick up relatively good deals online.

A representative of the breakdown specialists said, "People injured in accidents should be properly compensated but it seems to be open season for the claims companies trying to tout business from people who have not been injured or who would not otherwise have made a claim."

Vehicle owners who are particularly keen on reducing their monthly expenditure have been advised to search for reputable garages offering affordable MOT's and services.

It is also worth bearing in mind that there is a lack of cheap car insurance offerings for drivers who have modified their vehicles.
