Drug users pose threat to Greenock residents' cheap car insurance quotes

A worrying new trend is threatening the safety of residents of Greenock, Inverclyde, which may also have an adverse effect on their cheap car insurance quotes.

According to the Greenock Telegraph, drug users are throwing themselves in front of cars in the hope of making a personal injury claim against the driver's motor insurance provider.

One resident who has witnessed this behaviour commented: "There was an accident two weeks ago. Someone had been hit by a car.

"The woman driver of the car asked if he was okay, and he just said, 'It's ok, I've got my witnesses' and the four of them walked off.

"I asked the driver what happened and she said the guy had just jumped out from behind a parked car. She said she thought he had been crouching behinid the car."

A driving instructor from the Greenock area also attested to having seen examples of pedestrians jumping into the paths of cars on purpose, and warned that it "could cause a serious accident".

Corrine Aldous, spokesperson for the cheap car insurance quote experts at duck2water Car Insurance Services, said: "This is clearly a really dangerous path for people to head down, as it could result in serious injury to both the pedestrian and the road user.

"Whilst "cash for crash" schemes involving motorists braking very hard to induce a rear car accident are becoming more well known, I find it particularly worrying that people are willing to risk the very real possibility of injury by dashing out in front of a moving car."
