People who've bought motor insurance often lie when late

Unpunctual drivers often blame slow moving traffic and car problems for their belated arrival at social and business functions, according to a company which sells car insurance.

Although the excuses given by the tardy drivers may seem highly plausible, they are often used as an illegitimate cover up to absolve the motorists themselves of all responsibility.

The RAC revealed that a number of people with cheap car insurance had lied to their workmates and friends about the cause of delays. They also found that a large proportion of drivers had failed to turn up on time for weekly conferences and social get-togethers.

A representative of the association said, "At RAC we fully understand there are factors outside of people's control that can wreak havoc to their journeys. It's a key part of our job to ensure that if people do breakdown that we get them moving as quickly as possible to ensure they get where they need to be.

While some people are wholly prepared to act in a dishonest manner, others feel that they are morally obliged to tell the truth.

In order to ascertain the level of factualness behind a given story it is worth looking out for the tell tale signs of deception. Shifty people will often garble their words and give forced smiles when they feel uncomfortable.

These are the same kinds of signals that car insurance providers look out for when assessing the validity of driver's claims.
