Ford releases information about 'Econetic' Focus

Ford has revealed that its new range of eco-friendly models which are due out in 2008 will be called 'Econetic'.

Its range of eco-friendly vehicles will start with the Ford Focus Econetic, which will get 65mpg and release just 114g/km of CO2 for the 89bhp engine and 115g/km for the 108bhp engine.

As a result of these environmentally-friendly features, owners of the Ford Focus Econetic will have to pay £35 a year for their road tax and will also be exempt from the London congestion charge. It is not known whether Ford car insurance prices will be affected.

There are a number of changes which have been made to get the Econetic its low emissions status, such as making the car more aerodynamic and recalibrating parts of the engine.

Ford is looking to expand the Econetic changes to more of its range of popular models, and has already announced that the Fiesta and the Mondeo are next in line.
