Cheap car insurance company reveals fuel-saving black box technology
More Than is launching a new cheap car insurance policy which utilises advanced technology to offers drivers an added bonus.
Motorists who purchase the policy will have the much maligned GPS or "black box" technology installed in their car.
However, instead of being used against the driver, it will measure the motorist's behaviour and helpfully suggest alternative ways of driving which could save fuel - and consequently money too.
For example, it can detect over-revving and over-acceleration, as well as time spent idling or making very short journeys. On this basis, it will then make suggestions like taking your foot off the gas or turning your engine off when stopped for some time.
More Th>n's new motor insurance policy is all part of a going green campaign called 'We're in this together', which encourages drivers to change their habits in the interests of protecting the environment.
Drivers will be able to get free black boxes from the cheap car insurance company in the last quarter of 2007.
On top of this, More Th>n has announced they will also give those who own an eco-friendly car up to 15% off their motor insurance, as well as free carbon offsetting for the first 3,000 miles covered.
