Green car insurance quotes on the up

More people are looking for "green" car insurance quotes, the Co-operative Bank has revealed.

The Co-operative Bank said that the eco car insurance sector was growing as fears mount over the problem of climate change.

A spokesperson for the company said: "Climate change and the environment in particular are extremely important to consumers - the government has actually asked the industry to do more."

The Co-operative Bank offers a 10% discount on car insurance quotes for those who drive cars with low emissions and also offsets 20% of their customers' vehicle emissions under its eco insurance policies.

Despite the growing market for green motor insurance policies, the Co-operative Bank does recognise that there are likely to be limits to its growth.

The company spokesperson added: "Whether you'll end up with a situation whereby the niche products will be the ones that aren't green, it's perhaps too early to say."
