High car insurance rates for some men and women's names
People's first names are showing connections to car insurance rates with large percentages of certain 'person identifiers' having driving convictions, new research has revealed.
Names such as William and James are among the most popular given to babies - but the study shows this could have a real downside when they drive.
Seemingly high numbers of William and James people have been found guilty of driving offences (16 per cent and 17 per cent) while Joshuas account for nine per cent and six per cent of Alfies were seen to have convictions.
The research from confused.com also proved - again - that women are better drivers for insurance purposes. But still, 11 per cent of girls with the name Ella had convictions while six per cent of Chloes suffered such court action.
Studies have shown treble the number of men have driving convictions compared to female drivers.
Researchers highlighted that car insurance rates can rise hugely as drivers clock up penalty points on their licences. For nine points, insurance premiums can be 50 per cent higher.
