Ford models to feature voice-recognition technology
Drivers will soon be able to talk to their Ford thanks to innovative voice-recognition technology from Nuance.
The Nuance software will be incorporated into a Blaupunkt human-machine interface and will allow motorists to give commands to their sat nav or CD player.
A spokesperson for Nuance said: "Nuance has a long history of working with Ford. Now.we are able to offer drivers a safe alternative.drivers no longer need to take their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel to dial their phone, enter an address to the navigation system, or control their audio system."
From December, motorists who buy a Ford Focus or Ford C-Max will be able to add the voice-recognition technology to their car as an optional extra. However, the manufacturer also plans to extend this feature to more of its range, including the Ford Mondeo, Ford Galaxy and Ford S-Max.
A representative of duck2water Car Insurance Services commented: "This certainly sounds like a fun feature to have on your car. However, I'm not sure whether it will be enough of a safety benefit to give Ford drivers a better safety record and reduce the cost of Ford car insurance."
