Insurance for cars in Slough, vital

Slough is now one of the worst places in the UK for motorists, according to the findings of a survey conducted by a top motor cover provider, so, having the right insurance for car owners is essential in this town.

Factors taken into account when conducting the survey were the level of vehicle-related crime in the area, the cost of petrol, how many speed cameras there were, and the number of council car parks. Britain's largest 65 cities and towns were all examined, with Slough rating in the bottom five.

The findings of the survey showed that, concerning vehicle crime, Slough was the fifth worst in the country with 30.2 incidents of vehicle crime per every 1,000 people. Another statistic which counted against Slough was the fact that drivers have to pay £3.80 for two hours of parking, making it the 10th worst town in Britain for parking costs.

The Councillor responsible for neighbourhoods and renewals in Slough takes issue with the survey saying, "It is a shame a survey like this concentrates only on issues which involve the expenses incurred by car drivers rather than the whole experience of driving."

He is looking to turn the perception of Slough as an unfriendly place for car drivers around by stating that the council is investing money into the road network, which ensures that the roads are maintained and safe for motorists. By also adding a new winter-maintenance plan, plus smart traffic light systems at several points through the city, he hopes Slough's ranking on the list will improve.

Time will tell if these new initiatives will benefit Slough by making it a safer, more driver-friendly city, although making sure drivers have insurance for any car accidents or theft is still advisable, as well as a legal requirement.
