Drivers warned of tyre risk to motor insurance quotes
Kwik-Fit has revealed that drivers could be risking cheap motor insurance quotes by driving with under-inflated tyres.
The company, which repairs and replaces car parts as well as providing car insurance for UK drivers, found that one in five motorists were driving with dangerously low pressure in their tyres.
A spokesperson for Kwik-Fit said: "Many drivers probably aren't aware that amongst other dangers, under inflated tyres can lead to a blow-out - where a tyre suddenly explodes during transit."
Tyre blow outs can cause a loss of control if they occur when travelling at speed, potentially resulting in a serious accident.
Kwik-Fit is advising drivers to avoid this danger and protect their future motor insurance quotes by regularly checking their tyre pressure. The company also recommends that motorists should not try to judge their tyres by just looking at them, as small pressure losses cannot be easily noticed.
