No insurance for car can result in loss of licence

A drunk-driver from Coningsby, Lincolnshire, will not have to worry about insurance for car troubles after losing his licence for three years, since he was found to be three times over the legal drink-drive limit. In addition to the ban he has also been given a 12 week suspended jail sentence.

The man was driving to the shops after a night of heavy drinking when he was spotted by police officers after hitting a kerb. He was pulled over and given a breath test which tested positive, leading to him being arrested and taken back to the police station.

It was later revealed that he had 120 microgram's (mcg) of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath with the legal limit being 35mcg.

Furthermore, it was also reported that not only had he been drink-driving, he was also on the road without having a car insurance policy in place and was driving with two and a half months left on a three year ban.

The man pleaded guilty in court to driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, driving while disqualified, and driving without car insurance. The man's defence solicitor asked this to be taken into account during the trial.

Finding a quote and making insurance for car payments is not something the man will need to undertake anytime soon as, in addition to being disqualified for a further three years and receiving the suspended 12 week jail sentence, he is also required to carry out 175 hours of community work and pay £85 in court costs.
