Tracker car insurance makes Mail's top-tip list
There's more evidence that tracker car insurance is gaining momentum in the UK market, as a Mail Money correspondent calls it an effective answer to soaring premiums, particularly for families with teenaged drivers.
Mentioning insurers Young Marmalade and insurethebox, among others, the staffer said that those who were willing to have the underwriter "watching over your shoulder" would be rewarded with significantly cheaper car insurance.
Another tracker car insurance system recommended in the article is Coverbox, from providers Co-operative Motor Insurance. Participating drivers' premiums are charged by the mile, with night time and weekend hours billed at a higher rate.
"The Coverbox technology is starting to prove what we expected," Co-op's head of motor insurance is quoted as saying. "Those prepared to have their driving monitored are better drivers with fewer claims."
With the cost of car insurance for young drivers raised by a whopping 51 percent in the past year the introduction of tracker car insurance couldn't have come at a better time; both for insurers and the many cash-strapped families across the country.
