Cheap car insurance could be affected for dangerous driver

A banned driver who wanted to show off his motoring skills has been jailed for 12 months.

The 21-year-old from Luton may find it extremely difficult to get a cheap car insurance quote in the future after he drove a Volkswagen Golf and accidentally crashed the vehicle.

The man later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol. As well as being handed a 12-month jail sentence the motorist will also face a further three-year ban from driving.

In court, Judge Bara Mensah said: "There cannot be a more serious combination of factors here. You had drunk too much, drove at speed in a residential area when you had been disqualified just a few months before and the car was not roadworthy. You were showing off and disobeying court orders."

In the future, the man could find if very difficult to get cheap car insurance and may have to search around for the best possible UK motor insurance quote.
