Cheap car insurance errors cost Brits dear

Research carried out by a cheap car insurance quote comparison site has revealed that thousands of Brits are left out of pocket each year after trying to claim for something on an insurance policy which they could not.

According to TescoCompare.com, 55% don't bother to read the terms and conditions of insurance policies thoroughly - before or after buying them. This leads to motorists being left disappointed and having to pay for repairs out of their own pocket after an accident.

A spokesperson for the cheap car insurance provider said: "Insurance policies can be complicated, and it is not surprising that so many people find themselves in a situation where they thought they were covered when in fact they weren't.

"TescoCompare.com is the first comparison site to compare car insurance policies not just on price but also by what is covered, thereby giving customers extra information to help prevent them making a purchase they may end up regretting."

Another finding of the research was that people are not only making costly mistakes in the area of motor insurance but also in many other areas of their lives, with 4.5 million of us accidentally buying dry-clean only clothes and 800,000 having to pay for extras on top of builders' quotes.
