Number of online car insurance quotes on the up

The number of UK drivers getting online car insurance quotes is on the up, according to Sainsbury's Bank.

A spokesperson for Sainsbury's Bank explained that motorists are beginning to realise that they could save a lot of time and money by searching for motor insurance on the net, as this allows easy comparison of car insurance quotes.

She said that there has been a "steady increase" in the number of people looking for car insurance online, and described it as a "growing trend".

The spokesperson then commented: "We're actually encouraging people to seek four quotes if possible, because the more you can shop around, the better deal you're likely to get."

However, she also pointed out that the telephone was certainly not a dead medium when it comes to getting car insurance quotes.

She said: "But we have found that people still like the phone. You do get people who really just want to speak to somebody and go through all the details on the phone."
