CO2 emissions still coming second to cheap car insurance quotes
A report commissioned by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has revealed that drivers still care more about cheap car insurance quotes than carbon emissions.
The research, which was carried out by Ipsos MORI, revealed that 29% of drivers put costs such as motor insurance and fuel first, whilst just 13% feel that carbon emissions are their biggest motoring worry.
A spokesperson for the SMMT explained that although the research found cheap car insurance quotes are the principle concern for motorists when they are choosing a new vehicle, they may also represent an eco-friendly option.
He said: "We have attributed this year's rise in sales of smaller cars and fuel efficient diesels, partly to green concerns, partly to economic issues. However, it seems that the pocket is still more important to buyers than the environment.
"This is why it is so important that we continue to wrap the message that low carbon cars and low cost motoring go hand in hand."
