Motor insurance firm warns drivers to claim quickly

Drivers who have been injured in a car accident are being advised to talk to their car insurance company sooner rather than later by Royal & SunAlliance.

The firm, which provides cheap motor insurance quotes to thousands of motorists each year, is encouraging drivers who have been in a crash to make it a priority to talk to their car insurance firm.

A spokesperson for Royal & SunAlliance explained that details of the accident may be difficult to confirm if a motorist leaves it too long before reporting the incident to their motor insurance company.

However, by law motorists can leave it up to three years to make a claim on a car insurance policy and even longer in rare situations where symptoms of the accident do not appear for some time.

Corrine Aldous of duck2water Car Insurance Services, the experts in online motor insurance quotes, said: "I support Royal & SunAlliance's plea to drivers to talk to their car insurance companies soon after an accident.

"If you leave it too long, it could become more difficult or even impossible for you to get compensation that you are due."
