Cheap motor insurance quotes for veteran car owners
Owners of veteran and vintage cars who want a cheap motor insurance quote have traditionally had a tough time as many insurers will not cover old models. However, speciality car insurance firm Hagerty International are offering a new solution.
Although originally developed specifically for the 2006 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, the low cost motor insurance quotes are now available to all UK vintage car owners.
The Hagerty Collector Car Insurance Policy includes salvage retention options, European cover, restoration coverage and track day cover, as well as some of the more usual features like roadside assistance.
Angus Forsythe, the Hagerty International managing director, explained how the unusual motor insurance cover was developed, saying: "As event partners at the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run for the first time this year, we worked with Allianz Cornhill to develop a bespoke rating system for participants.
"Having evaluated the market, we are now offering these more competitive rates to all veteran and vintage car owners."
The unusual nature of the motor insurance quotes the company is now handling was discussed by John Border, representative of Allianz Cornhill Personal.
He said: "It's not every day that you are asked to insure a very rare 1933 Maserati 8CM followed by a number of cars taking part in the London to Brighton Run and a 1956 Ferrari 290 MM first driven by Fangio in the Mille Miglia endurance race in Italy."
The 2006 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run enjoyed its 110th anniversary with 492 cars making the 60 mile journey. A 1903 Berliet Closed swing-seat tonneau won the run in three hours and forty minutes.
