Women urged to consider non-specialist car insurance companies

An online car insurance company is urging female drivers to shop around because they won't necessarily get the best deal with a woman's motor insurance provider.

Richard Mason, director of insurance for moneysupermarket.com, is highlighting the fact that cheap car insurance quotes rely on more than one's gender.

He said: "There are many more factors involved than simply just being a female."

These factors include age, location, type of car and previous motoring convictions, and are believed to total around 15 in all.

The online car insurance expert went on to discuss situations in which it would not be more beneficial for a lady to get motor insurance quote from a woman's car insurance company.

One such situation would be that of a female driver with a conviction for drink driving, of which he said that there is "absolutely no way" that a women car insurance firm would treat the customer better.
