Online car insurance company investigates biker trends

The typical "21st Century Rider" is a 40-something born-again biker according to online car insurance provider elephant.co.uk.

The company, which as well as offering cheap online car insurance quotes has a motorcycle insurance brand called The Bike Insurer, carried out research into modern biking trends.

Its findings revealed that born-again bikers make up a large proportion of motorcyclists on the UK roads - and also a large proportion of those who are involved in accidents.

A spokesperson for elephant.co.uk said: "There seems to be a worrying trend of people that haven't ridden for a number of years jumping on powerful bikes and putting themselves in danger."

The online car insurance company's research also revealed that born-again bikers have a high motoring conviction rate, with one in three having been booked for one or more offences.

"The increase in convictions is also concerning as it shows that when they're riding, they're doing so in a careless manner," the elephant.co.uk spokesperson finished.
