Online car insurance site discovers 'Wilfing'
Whether you are a novice internet user or a surfing pro, the chances are that you will have done some wilfing in your time.
Not sure what wilfing is? Neither were we.
That is because it is a new term invented by the online car insurance price comparison site moneysupermarket.com.
It stands for "What was I looking for?" and it refers to the phenomenon of aimless searching of the net that internet users often partake in.
A spokesperson for the motor insurance site said: "Although people log on with a purpose, they are now being offered so much choice and online distraction that many forget what they are there for, and spend hours aimlessly Wilfing instead."
So, when you next log on to search for online car insurance or a cheap flight, at least you will have a name for the reason why it took so long.
Life coach Pete Cohen advises web users to "set.a specific surfing goal and time limit to keep on track. Set pop-up blockers on your PC to save you being distracted."
