Cheap car insurance to come to a Northampton town

Residents of a Northamptonshire town may find that there is a silver lining to an unpopular move to ban parking on the streets which comes in the form of cheap car insurance.

From August 5th 2007, motorists will no longer be allowed to park on the streets of Wellingborough and those who do will face a £60 fine.

Whilst this has not been a popular move due to the inconvenience it is expected to cause, it may mean that cheap car insurance is easier to find after the street parking ban comes into force.

This is because it is hoped that there will be fewer accidents and a resulting reduction in motor insurance claims.

A Wellingborough councillor commented: "When enforcement comes in it will be a big improvement to the town.

"People have the option of using the many free car parks in the town, or they can take the risk of parking illegally," he added.
