Yorkshire man unlikely to see cheap motor insurance quotes for years

A 38-year-old man from Yorkshire is facing costly motor insurance quotes for the next few years after he had six penalty points added to his driving licence.

Darren Stedman, of Langtoft, was stopped by police while driving along Bridlington Bay Road, Carnaby. It was soon discovered that he had not passed his driving test and had been driving alone whilst only holding a provisional licence.

Bridlington Magistrates' Court found him guilty of driving without a valid licence and driving without car insurance and imposed a total of £265 in fines, as well as adding six points to Mr Stedman's driving licence.

However, the fine isn't the only financial implication of the offences. Cheap car insurance firms will be reluctant to offer the Yorkshire man any low cost motor insurance quotes until the points are spent.
