Drivers told not to secrete car keys in obvious places
Home security experts have advised people with cheap car insurance to invest in door locks and house alarms, in order to minimise the chances of car key theft.
A high number of cars have been fitted with advanced security devices in recent years, making it more difficult for thieves to break in without the keys. As a result, criminals are now opting to snatch car keys from the homes of their unsuspecting victims.
Swinton, a UK car insurance provider, are advising vehicle owners against hiding their keys under plant pots and inside letter boxes, as these are the first places that a villain will look.
It is sensible to keep doors locked at all times, even if the house is only being left vacant for a few minutes. Home owners have also been told not to leave their car keys dangling beside the front door, as savvy criminals can use a wire to retrieve them.
Steve Chelton, a leading authority on cheap car insurance, said, "As car security becomes more sophisticated thieves have to come up with ways to steal car keys so homes become the primary target. By investing in additional security measure you can ensure the safety of your home and your car."
