Motorists enjoy romantic encounters

They may or may not have restricted mileage car insurance but around two fifths of drivers are happy to engage in flirtatious behaviour while behind the wheel, according to Diamond car insurance. A worrying 15% of these drivers admit to having been involved in a car accident or near miss as a consequence of flirting.

Men are considerably more likely than women to cheekily glance or blow a kiss towards somebody who they fancy. Women are generally more restrained in their flirting, many choosing to give a simple smile to a good looking guy.

Elwyn Gedrych, Managing Director at Diamond, said, "Flirting with other motorists certainly seems to be popular and men in particular seem well versed at it.

"We spend so much of our time driving, perhaps many of us have started to see our cars as an extension of our social lives. Most of us are used to flirting in clubs and bars, so why not in our cars as well?"

The research revealed that male car insurance holders are likely to drive respectfully around women who they find pretty. Women are generally courteous to other road users, no matter whether they're well-built hunks or not.

A large number of men actively look to buy vehicles which they believe will give them extra pulling power. They will probably be interested to hear that women admit to finding men with impressive looking vehicles more attractive.

Research has not concluded yet whether restricted mileage car insurance can be considered an attraction to the opposite sex.
