Quotes for high performance vehicles from Scottish broker

A company acquisition means car insurance quotes for a top sports and classic vehicle cover specialist will now be backed by Scotland's largest independent broker.

In a deal said to be worth £1.5 million - and supported by the Royal Bank of Scotland, Central Insurance Services (CIS) acquired Peart Insurance Brokers and Peart's trading arm called Performance Marque.

Both acquisitions cover the classic car and prestige performance car market, providing not so cheap car insurance cover for such brands as Ferrari, Aston Martin and Lamborghini. They will continue to trade under the same names. Some 7000 policyholders and 12 employees are due to join CIS.

CIS, based in Aberdeen, can now offer a better and larger product range across a wider geographic area focused on high net worth private clients who invest in or own luxury-type cars.

Iain Henry, CIS managing director, said Peart fitted a gap in the market that Central had identified that gave his firm "a competitive advantage."

"It is an excellent fit with our existing household insurance and commercial insurance business arms," he said.

The acquisition by a new owner will not affect the ability of the brokers involved to help motorists interested in cover for their high performance and classic vehicles to provide car insurance quotes.
