Audi announces early 2007 profits

Audi has announced its aim to become the most successful car maker on the back of huge profits in the first half of 2007.

The German manufacturer, which is a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, released its pre-tax profits as being 1.1bn Euros, up a massive 67% on the previous year.

In the past six months, it has sold more than half a million cars and it is hoped that the new Audi A4 will mean continued success for the remainder of 2007.

The Audi chairman commented: "We are heading at top speed to the 12th record year in succession and well on the way to be the most successful luxury car maker by 2015."

Audis are being driven around the world, with Europe, China, America, Russia and the Middle East all taking deliveries of popular models in early 2007.
