UK car insurance websites reveals Q3 drop in premiums

Third quarter 2007 figures from UK car insurance website Insurancewide.com have revealed that the average motorist is able to enjoy motor insurance quotes that are cheaper than in the second quarter.

In an analysis of its customers' car insurance quotes, Insurancewide.com found that drivers are now paying 9.5% less than three short months ago. It revealed the average premium to be £626 for July to September, whilst it was £693 in the April to June period.

A spokesperson for Insurancewide.com said: "The continuing fall (since Q2) in average premiums in Q3 reflects the rates of almost every insurer and broker in the UK, including direct insurers such as Swiftcover.com.

"Once again, the falling premiums shown by our research reflect the competitive pressure insurers are under to retain and attract ever-savvier customers."

However, these findings come in contrast to those published by the AA, which showed that there has been a 1% increase in the average UK car insurance premium in the past three months.
