Bus passengers hurt as roof is ripped from bus.

Six people were injured, one of them with serious head injuries when a bus crashed into a railway bridge in Camden, North London.

The bus route had been diverted following a fire in Camden Market, but drivers had been using it for 24 hours before the crash happened.

A spokesman said "the route is a recognised diversion route and drivers know to drive straight through the middle."

An eye-witness said: "There were road markings on the bridge and on the road telling drivers to keep to the middle, but I saw the bus go into the wall. All the windows popped out and the roof just peeled back about halfway. The people at the back had time to duck and were protected by the seats."

Police warned that the roads around the fire and the crash site may be closed for up to four days.
