Insurance survey reveals more motorists downsizing their car

According to a new survey from Motorpoint, a leading car supermarket group, it appears that motorists may be able to shrink their motor insurance quotes in the near future as they downsize their vehicle accordingly.

More than two thirds of car buyers are expected to purchase a smaller car when they next buy, with a surge in the popularity of Superminis and compact MPVs.

Customers stated that they wished to save on car running costs, with lower fuel emissions a significant benefit of a small car. The slower depreciation of the smaller car was another significant factor affecting people's responses.

A Motorpoint spokesman said, "These figures show a potentially massive shift of over two thirds of the motoring population - about 20 million people - into smaller vehicles."

Motorists considering the purchase of a smaller car are encouraged to research all aspects that will affect their motoring costs. Greater fuel efficiency and a reduced motor insurance quote are likely to be effective in the argument advocating the purchase of small cars.
