Speeding affects car insurance rates
Research conducted by the AA has revealed that many motorists do not realise that getting caught speeding will have an adverse impact on their car insurance rate.
The motoring organisation found that many drivers do not appreciate that a conviction for speeding will add pounds to their motor insurance quotes as they will be considered to be higher risk.
A spokesperson for the AA said: "When you get flashed by a [speed] camera, potentially you're not only collecting a £60 fine, you're potentially also collecting a £60 increase in your insurance premiums for the next few years."
He warned that this increase in car insurance rates means that speeding motorists will end up paying the speeding fine four times over.
"Speeding offences can be very expensive and I think most people tend to overlook that. It's not just the £60 fine," he finished.
