Student driving without car insurance allegedly kills teenagers
Two A-level students, 20 and 18-years-old, both from Leeds have been remanded in custody after a car accident they were involved in caused the death of two 16-year-olds. One of the drivers is accused of driving without valid car insurance.
An inquest into the deaths was opened and adjourned on Monday 6th October 2008.
One of the two Afghan nationals was driving a Nissan Primera in Bradford, when the car smashed into a lamppost and fatally injured the teenagers.
The 18-year-old was driving a Nissan Micra and was also involved in the collision. Both drivers will be remanded in custody until the next hearing on 14th October.
The Primera driver denied causing death by dangerous driving when he appeared at Bradford magistrates' court. He will also face charges of various motoring offences including driving without a valid licence, using a vehicle without car insurance, failing to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident and aggravated vehicle-taking.
