UK car insurance firm reveals the best and worst months for taking a driving test

Research from a UK car insurance provider has shown that January is the best month for learner drivers to take their test.

Despite the fact that most motorists pass their test in August, Admiral found that they would do better by waiting until January.

A spokesperson for the motor insurance company explained: "On balance, I'd say the best month to sit your test is January, which has a reasonably high pass rate combined with a fairly low accident rate."

Another finding from the UK car insurance firm's study is that December is the most difficult month for new drivers to pass their test.

"There doesn't seem to be much seasonal good cheer around the testing centres this month!" joked the Admiral representative.

However, the news isn't all bad for those taking their test in the darkest month; those who pass have least chance of being involved in a road accident. Other months which have a similar low-pass, low-accident rate include November and June.
