Driving tips to save money, cut fuel bills

An online car insurance firm is recommending motorists use economic driving skills to combat the rising cost of petrol - and save hundreds of pounds.

By paying attention to various green-style, eco-measures that affect petrol and diesel consumption, car owners could save almost £300 on an annual basis, it is claimed.

Key areas highlighted are straightforward to action and are estimated to save up to 15% on drivers' fuel bills. Combine these with finding cheap car cover, then the savings can be worth the effort:

• Remove any extra weight such as roof racks that aren't in use, weighty items in the boot
• Ensure tyres are at correct pressures to reduce the cost of petrol consumption by 10%
